Job Description

SUMMARY:

Manages resources and delegates as appropriate to optimize achievement of the collaborative team who is responsible for providing continuous vigilance to a diverse population of adults across inpatient units. Assists in the operations management of the Deterioration Detection Center. Promotes retention of staff through recognition and communication. Assures that team members are providing proactive, continuous monitoring, prevention, early intervention and ongoing care with the goal to decrease morbidity and mortality. Assures the use of evidence based care and clinical decision support to guide practice. Supports and facilitates collaboration between the inpatient nursing staff and Deterioration Detection team members. Collaborates with the High Risk Coordinator. Reports to ICU manager from primary unit of employment.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

*Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

*Partners with the High Risk Coordinator and Nurse Manager in the development and implementation of communication guidelines.

*Collaborates and gives guidance to multidisciplinary team members to ensure compliance with clinical guidelines.

*Utilizes findings from the High Risk Coordinator and quality improvement to enhance patient care and surveillance techniques.

*Analyzes and interprets visual and summarized data findings utilizing databases and statistical programs in a proficient and timely manner.

*Works collaboratively with Nurse Manager to ensure appropriate equipment function, equipment availability and efficient supply usage. Maintains supply and equipment inventory that meets the Deterioration Detection Center needs.

*Works with Nurse Manager to validate concerns/complaints from patients and team members and implement timely resolutions.

*Participates with the Nurse Manager in the process of selecting staff into the area assigned, promotes the recognition and retention of staff.

*Assures that existing policies and procedures are adhered to during interactions with staff.

*Assists and supports the Nurse Manager and High Risk Coordinator with communicating and implementing area changes.

*Supports and facilities the preceptor program, new employee shadowing and orientation, and student programs.

*Keeps the Nurse Manager informed of day to day needs/issues.

*Participates in mortality reviews and case reviews with healthcare team as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Minimum of eighteen (18) months ICU RN experience required. One (1) year in the Deterioration Detection Center required.

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
