Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is one of the most innovative public media organizations in the country. Every day, TPT uses the power of media to advance the arts, spur learning, help young people succeed and help adults age vitally. TPT presents extraordinary PBS programming and also produces award-winning content for the national PBS system.

The Production Manager coordinates and manages the budget, schedule, and logistical aspects of TPT's media projects. The role is critical in ensuring smooth operations from pre-production through post-production, while adhering to state and federal grant regulations in addition to the mission and values of TPT. The Production Manager also provides timely and accurate production budgets, financial reporting & analysis.

Salary: $65k - $75K Annually (depending on qualifications)

Hybrid Work Environment: Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the Twin Cities Metro area.

MAJOR AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (80% of time)

  • Responsible for successfully meeting the logistical and operational needs of multiple projects and productions across a range of content areas
  • Collaborates with the content team to develop and then manage the project.
  • Works with content teams to help create project bids and budgets that support project expectations, TPT pricing practices and revenue expectations.
  • Creates detailed project management plans, including production calendars, and secures production resources to ensure all multimedia deliverables are met.
  • Creates work orders for productions, ensuring compliance with TPT and union guidelines.
  • Leads the contract request process for vendors, contractors, and other key personnel. Requests specialized use or image releases when necessary.
  • Manages contractor relationships; ensuring that all contracts (including organized labor agreements) are observed.
  • Schedules technical staff and facilities based on project needs, budgets, union rules, and scheduling system requirements.
  • Monitors project plans and activities to help ensure compliance with all PBS and/or other distributors as well as funder and/or grantor requirements.

MAJOR AREA OF RESPONSIBLITY (15% of time)

  • Provides project forecasts, portfolio review of variances and reviews project financials on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to manage deliverables.

Other duties as assigned (5% of time)

  • Participate as an active member of the Production Manager Team. Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of film and/or TV production experience.
  • Experience working on multi-media projects.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for consistent attention to detail and ability to successfully handle details with accuracy in a fast-paced, multi-client setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a multi-tasking environment with competing deadlines with a positive attitude and a collaborative can-do spirit.

Preferred Experience

  • Commitment to advancing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) priorities within an organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the resources and production methods needed to create high-end multi-media productions.
  • Digitally savvy and able to work with multiple software programs.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams. Adobe Creative Suite a plus .
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills combined with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Commitment to advancing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) priorities within the organization.
  • Ability to travel to locations in the greater metro area. Occasional travel out of the state.
  • Strong focus on audience and end user needs.
