INVISTA has an immediate need for a Sr. Environmental Engineer to join team at our Houston Chemical Plant (HCP). As an industry pioneer, HCP is the first Catofin propane dehydrogenation plant in the United States, and leads as the most productive Catofin plant in our size class worldwide.

As a Sr. Environmental Engineer, the selected individual will play a key role to ensure environmental operational and compliance excellence. Reporting directly to the Environmental Manager, this role is based at INVISTA'S Houston, TX plant.

What You Will Do

  • Compliance Ownership for Air Programs. Note: Air programs may include Air Permitting, Title V, BWON, MON, HON, CEMS, RICE MACT, LDAR, and Release Reporting
  • Collaborate with business teams to complete all necessary air permit applications, and work directly with agency personnel to obtain approval of the permit modifications
  • Communicate air permitting matters with internal and external customers and stakeholders, legal counsel, and public affairs teams
  • Lead and participate in agency inspections, compliance/enforcement action, and internal audits
  • Supports the site in meeting environmental objectives and goals by monitoring environmental compliance program, develops indicators of performance, identifies trends, and supports the site in meeting environmental objectives and goals
  • Providing coaching, mentoring, and training to the site team
  • Prepares and submits compliance reports to local, state, and federal agencies which includes technical components and written communication, including Title V reporting
  • Keep abreast of newly promulgated state and federal environmental regulations applicable to our manufacturing operations
  • Collaborate in a team centric setting to advance strategic environmental and compliance
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Engineering or a STEM related discipline
  • Experience in an industrial/manufacturing chemical, petrochemical, or refinery setting
  • Five (5) or more years' experience in environmental air compliance programs (ex Title V, NSR)
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Willing & able to travel 10% of the time

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Seven (7) or more years' air permitting experience
  • Ten (10) or more years' environmental experience
