The Pet Care business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. Job Summary

Facilitate new product development projects and product changes from conception to launch. Lead, plan, and manage, the new product development processes. Drive continuous improvement within the NPD process

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Project Management
    • Identify, plan, and coordinate cross functional team activities required to launch new and changing products.
    • Create and manage project timelines for cross-functional team and hold team members accountable for meeting deadlines.
    • Identify and call out project's critical path and key milestone dates.
    • Serve as liaison between Marketing, Graphics, R&D, Regulatory, Packaging, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Contract Manufacturing departments.
    • Develop and execute project management methodologies to determine and track constraints for multiple, concurrent plans.
    • Communicate risk and project information to stakeholders.
    • Identify delays and challenge cross functional teams for resolution.
  • Manage Stage Gate new product development process and meetings
    • Facilitating new product development meetings - challenging development teams to identify and create resolution to roadblocks or delays.
    • Preparing reports, leading discussions, and publishing action items for offline project meetings.
    • Oversee and approve all documentation prior to entering or advancing in the GPC Stage Gate process.
    • Provide guidance and expertise with regards to guidelines and rules within the stage gate process ensuring all projects adhere to H&G business objectives.
    • Guide cross-functional team on all change processes.
    • Produce monthly key performance indicators (KPI) reports as they pertain to the product development process.
    • Provide input on monthly key project communications to be utilized by all levels of the organization.
  • Manage NPD database with regards to project management
    • Utilize task management within the NPD database to monitor project progression.
    • Entry of project descriptors with emphasis on milestone and key performance indicators.
    • Maintenance and upkeep to projects considering scope change or process interruption.
    • Ensure accuracy of task and data management.
    • Communicate project changes to teams for awareness.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Facilitation of NPD stage gate process improvements based on business needs.
    • Optimize and broaden data collection / reporting to improve KPI's.
    • Research alternative project management methodologies for speed to market and project efficiencies.
  • Create and maintain a positive environment for all employees free of intimidation and harassment.
  • Must always understand and demonstrate safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Operations Management or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 4+ years of operations experience, preferably in Project Management
  • PMI certification a plus
  • Consumer product goods experience a plus
Required Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of an ideation stage gate and milestones methodology.
  • Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Project or similar software.
  • Knowledge and experience using automated scheduling tools and databases.
  • Proactive problem-solving identification: solving problems with the ability to assess risk/benefit and to act decisively on findings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated excellence as a team player both as a leader and member.
  • Effective meeting management skills.
  • High level of organizational and motivational skills.
  • Strong people and negotiating skills.
  • PC skills (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Able to manage multiple product development projects.
