We are seeking a researcher with a strong computational/data science background to join a rare disease genomic research team. In this role, you will engage in the implementation of a variety of routine and specialized computational pipelines for clinical data analyses primarily focused on genetic conditions that present in infancy and early life. In addition, novel investigations implementing data science to advance rare disease research may be pursued. This position will have oversight by physician scientists, and you will work collaboratively with our team of genetic counselors, research assistants, and the Boston Children's research computing team.

The Computational Health Informatics Data Manager:

  • Provides data coordination and data management services for research studies and other computational health informatics.

  • Assists in the design and preparation of clinical and/or bench research and other computational health informatics project data sets and reports for use by researchers, and team members, and/or other data analysts and stakeholders.

  • Supports research and informatics project reporting for data review, quality control checks, and interim and final analysis.

  • Assists other staff to provide technical advice and may provide technical advice to project stakeholders, including provision of problem-solving assistance and answers questions about data sets.

  • Assist with designs, develops, and validates databases using application software suitable for supporting computational health informatics projects, including research investigations.

  • Collects, collates, enters and/or imports data into program-specific databases and other computational health informatics software applications.

  • May assist in tracking data requests and provide help and training to stakeholders who are using computational health informatics software and systems.

  • May provides educational support and training to investigators and study staff for the development and implementation of computational health informatics projects.,

  • Assists and may provide project and data management support for computational health informatics projects.

  • Provides positive and effective stakeholder service and contributes to teamwork within and between departments, divisions, programs and other organization.

  • Ensures work on computational health informatics projects is performed in conformance with established institutional, program, federal, and state policies and procedures.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Science public health, epidemiology, mathematics or closely related fields, including course work in statistics or other relevant analytic techniques required

  • Analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, and mediate fair solutions. Well-developed writing skills are required.

  • In-depth experience in all technical areas of the system including: architecture, database/server administration, software development and upgrades, as well as strong project management skills and the ability to manage the expectations of senior management.
