Position Summary:
The Disability Services Center strives to create a culture of inclusion and access to all UCI programs, services, activities, events, and facilities for students with disabilities by forming partnerships with the university community. DSC also provides reasonable accommodations, and related disability services to UCI students, Continuing Education, Summer Session students, and other program participants. DSC also monitors campus compliance with requirements under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA). The DSC also supports and advise academic and administrative departments regarding accessibility to physical and online environments.

Under the direction of the Director of the Disability Services Center (DSC), the Senior Disability Specialist will coordinate the provision of academic accommodations, auxiliary services, and supplemental aides for students enrolled at UCI (including UCI Summer Sessions and UCI Extension) who experience a wide range of documented visible, invisible, and temporary disabilities. The Senior Disability Specialist works closely and collaboratively with colleagues, campus partners, and outside federal, state, and local agencies to provide support to students and institution-wide training and assistance to students, faculty, and staff regarding disability related accommodations, aides, resources and services through the lens of social justice. The Senior Disability Specialist manages a caseload of students from various disability groups and upholds strict confidentiality of student information with respect to counseling services and disability documentation.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $66,700.00 - $76,368.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $66,700.00 - $118,500.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
  • 3-5 years experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in health sciences.
  • Masters Degree in a relevant field
  • CA Driver License
  • Strong knowledge of the legal framework involving accommodations for students with disabilities through state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of procedures and best practices for assessing and determining disability accommodation issues, including the Disability Compliance Office procedures.
  • Understanding of assessment, accommodation, and intervention techniques.
  • Continuous prioritization of work and promotion of timely and effective provision of federally mandated academic accommodations.
  • Ability to analyze data, assess needs and implement plans.
  • Skill to communicate clearly, accurately, and appropriately with a broad variety of people in person, on the phone, and via mail, email and zoom.
  • Skills in the use of assistive technology, personal computers (both PC and Mac), software and database applications.


Preferred:
  • Proficient in ASL and/or multiple languages.

  • Occasional evening and weekend duty
