This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers (use as appropriate), you willbe responsible for the structural integrity of the Fuel Cell system. You will also support designing, building, and testing a Fuel Cell system as part of the Lunar Transportation Business Unit. Additionally, you will be approving analysis products from junior analysts and providing sign off on engineering documents.

You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for structural design and sign-off verifying structural integrity using analytical methods and finite element simulations

  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to determine system environments

  • Communicate analysis results to customers to inform design decisions and ensure requirements are met

  • Analyzes test results to verify that requirements are met

  • Mentors design engineers to ensure sound design principles are applied for structural integrity

  • Provide sign-off for engineering drawings, analysis reports, and related documents

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject areas

  • 5+ years of relevant Structural analysis experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or other relevant industry

  • Experience performing static and fatigue analysis using both classical and FEM methodology

  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment while demonstrating personal leadership, strong technical competence, and attention to detail

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

  • Work under minimal direction

  • Expert in Simcenter Femap, NASTRAN or other similar finite element modeling software

Desired

  • M.S. or Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject areas

  • Understanding of Aerospace best practices, methods, and procedures

  • Experience supporting testing and correlating models with test data

  • Previous leadership experience providing technical guidance and direction to a team of engineers

  • Experience performing spacecraft avionics structural analysis

  • Familiarity with aerospace system design requirements such as thermal, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, acoustics, electrical grounding/bonding
