Job Description

Responsible for extending and further developing relationship network and driving revenue for T&F's journals and eBooks products Engages in a consultative sales process and works closely with team to incorporate those resources into the sales process as appropriate. Leads negotiations at a high level, but within defined limits of discretion. Act as liaison with Product Development and Marketing in support of solution-specific sales, customer/market needs, and customer satisfaction. Works closely with senior management team to coordinate regional & global strategy and activities within overall account management and sales process as appropriate. Reports directly to SVP of Sales for the Americas.

Key Accountabilities

  • Achieve and exceed annual territory sales targets, delivering the overall revenue and profit objectives of the specific products lines
  • Design, with key stakeholders, a 1-3 year business plan/strategy for the corporate market, ensuring that activity is both relevant and flexible to the evolving trading environment over time
  • Lead the corporate sales team, delivering a clear vision for operational effectiveness, development of revenue lines through increased trading and profitability.
  • Manage resources to ensure that the structure and makeup of their team is optimal towards the success of the sales operation
  • Report periodically to key stakeholders on sales progress and the business environment, this monitoring enabling responsiveness to both the micro and macro trading conditions
  • Drive compliance with company trading and terms policy to protect profitability and value of business in the territory
  • Actively liaise with other stakeholder departments or groups within the business to enhance T&F's coverage of defined territories
  • Where necessary, represent the company externally e.g. on working party groups or through networks, maintaining a presence and information gathering role on the trading environment
Qualifications

Knowledge and Qualifications

The jobholder will have:

  • Significant experience of working in a sales environment (+10 years), with an understanding of the demands placed on sales and the support needs of a sales team
  • Minimum 10 years sales experience selling to the corporate market and at least 5+ years sales management experience.
  • Experience of leading people and motivating sales teams
  • Considerably knowledge of the academic publishing industry within the corporate market
  • Familiarity with key business models and industry stakeholders

  • The ability to influence, drive for results and establish clear agenda for department/division
  • Strong ability to communicate appropriately, both upstream and downstream within the organisation
  • Positive and flexible attitude, willing to take on many different types of tasks and apply to them the same level of effort and expertise
  • The ability to work independently and pro-actively, with awareness of when to delegate tasks
  • Willingness to travel extensively on territory and to conferences as required by the company
  • Target driven approach and the skills to manage sales plans and delivery
  • Ability to create and maintain positive and effective relationships with the sales team and other internal colleagues
