Job Duties:

  • Develop and/or update the TRADOC standard operational scenario based on the Defense Planning Scenario chosen for the FY Campaign of Learning in accordance with the experimentation scenario requirements for the main SIMEX. The development of the version of the operational scenario shall be IAW a scenario derived from a Defense Planning Scenario (DPS) that is TRADOC approved that will be modeled in a simulation. The DPS has inherent credibility by depicting the joint concept-based ways and means for conducting future joint operations across the range of military operations 8 to 20 years in the future. Include projected or programmed capabilities (U.S., friendly, or threat) which are derived from concepts, budget projections, military force structure plans, and intelligence preparations. Ensure that the scenario version developed is able to examine or demonstrate organizations, the potential of new technologies, and emerging or new concepts and capabilities.
  • Coordinate with subordinate and external organizations to include Joint, Interagency and foreign military representatives to support and synchronize the development of the supporting documentation required for experiment execution. Develop and assist other members of the Experimentation CoP with all aspects of scenario.
  • With Project Lead and members of the Community of Practice, begin the process of developing MSEL threads and inject. The MSELs provide events and role player cues which create conditions necessary to address specific experimental issues. MSELs are critical to the experiment event in order to create context in which analysts collect data. The MSEL Development consists of planning, preparation, execution and documentation. Experiment analytic objectives drive MSEL development.
  • Using already produced scenario products and MSEL Development Conference products, develop identified required MSEL Threads and types of injects required during the simulation. Scenario injects are how the events are injected, placed into play, for the simulation.
  • Develop and execute a Starting Conditions Workshop, in conjunction with the project lead and members of the Community of Practice. The end-state of the STARTEX Conditions Workshop is an accurate account for the unit strengths and locations up until the operational scenario begins.
  • Support the execution of the simulation experiment by providing Scenario critical tasks and functions.
  • Participate in developing additional scenario products for workshops / seminars / technology limited objective scenario support.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS
  • MEL 4 or Equivalent NCO
  • 3-5 years in Army operations
  • Experimentation and/or JCIDS
  • Capabilities Development
  • Document Review
  • Emerging Technologies

Working Environment:

The usual daily work conditions will be in an office environment located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The job requires occasional lifting of computer and other equipment, generally not in excess of 50 lbs., usually in connection with equipment transport to off-site locations for exercise events. The exercise support staff typically travels with a high degree of frequency. Travel to training exercise locations regularly includes CONUS, its territories, with occasional international travel. Exercise duty may include extended work periods beyond 12 hours; air travel in excess of 18 hours on a single aircraft; outdoor working conditions; and driving for extended periods to work sites.
