Part of Catalyst operations you will have the opportunity to learn and grow with the direction of some of the chemical industry's most experience Maintenance crews! "You" as a Maintenance Apprentice will work with a trained Maintenance Person to assemble, install, align, program, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and make improvements on a variety of high tech flexible machine systems. Apprentice will also support product quality and lowest cost production via strong people skills, effective communication, and continuous improvement of maintenance. This is a 4-year program. Upon completion of required on the job training and education, the apprentice is eligible to apply for a Maintenance Tech IV position and will receive Journeyman Level Factory Maintenance Repairer Certificate.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cleaning and lubricating equipment and check fluid levels
  • You will perform tolerances on equipment
  • Read blueprints and apply layout and precision measurement skills to prepare work
  • Correct deficiencies as indicated while performing preventive maintenance
  • Clean, inspect and disassemble pumps, machinery and equipment
  • Evaluate work and broken components to determine the feasibility of repairs, rework or replacement
  • Reassemble using new gaskets, and repaired, remanufactured, or new parts as needed
  • Test reassembled devices to determine conformance with manufacturer's specifications
  • Adjust mechanical devices as needed for optimum performance
  • Repair/replace belts, pulleys, bearings, gears, couplings, and shafts
  • Test and repair plumbing and boiler systems and piping for steam, water, waste, and process fluids
  • Replace plumbing parts as needed
  • Test for proper operation and integrity, also test and repair compressed air and vacuum systems and devices as needed
  • Replace or repair defective Pneumatic and Hydraulic components, and reassemble system
  • Troubleshoot and repair of hydraulic systems including testing and adjusting for correct operation
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on tablet press equipment
  • Repair and replace tablet press parts as needed
  • Weld machinery components and or structural members as needed
  • Work in teams to solve problems and make improvements to machine and production processes
  • Follow Samaco (Safety Maintenance and Control Program) requirements for all equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of machines and follow PM
  • Participate in Performance Dialogs including (but not limited to): completing the daily 5S checklist, identifying and resolving action items, providing data for performance indicators and maintaining work area effectiveness
  • Adhere to all safety rules and initiatives

Requirements

  • Acceptance into the GL FAME program (Greater Louisville Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education)
  • Excellent mechanical and spatial aptitude
  • Excellent attendance, performance and safety
  • Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
