BCBSNE is happy to offer four work designations for our Omaha area employees: 100% in-office, Hybrid options, and 100% remote. If choosing to work remote, this role can be located in one of the following states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Texas.

The Enterprise Architect incorporates a strong consultant-oriented approach working across business and technology teams to summarize the current environment and establish a target vision aligned with business and IT strategy. Through engagement with business partners and a deep understanding of technology, business, industry trends the Enterprise Architect is responsible for leading efforts to align strategic investment, planning and technology investments.

What you'll do:

  • Translate business strategy into a strategic technology investment portfolio.
  • Influence the technology strategy and technology investments that will realize the business strategy.
  • Partner with Senior Leaders in negotiating contracts, managing relationship, evaluating capabilities and pricing with technology vendors.
  • Lead efforts to scope and architect complex systems, conduct strategic options analysis and propose end-to-end solutions, while highlighting trade-offs.
  • Architect an efficient and sustainable Ecosystem that enables business strategy and enhances operational reliability.
  • Review ongoing designs of technology investments to identify strategic opportunities and partner with IT Leaders to address design issues during delivery.
  • Identify key technology enablers to optimize IT investment.
  • Trusted partner for IT stakeholders and customers.
  • Invests in self-learning with next generation technologies such as AI, Autonomous Systems, Machine Learning etc.
  • Deep understanding of business, business processes, industry trends and business strategy

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Bachelors degree in IT related field and 8+ years relevant technology architecture experience - including evidence of leading efforts to shape strategic investment portfolios and to scope and architect major programs.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Architecture Roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading teams made up of technology resources.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize workload.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with business and technology executives (Director of Technology, CTO, COO, CIO, Business Division Leads).
  • Strong Leadership and strategic decision-making abilities.
  • Experience mentoring Senior Engineers on engineering, leadership and strategic thinking.

The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:

  • Working knowledge of the Health Insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated depth in one or more of the following technology domains: Data & analytics, Services, Software Development or Infrastructure.
  • Experience with a Secure Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience working with the design, integration and/or support of vendor packages within an overall enterprise architecture.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks & industry models.
  • Experience working with EA tools.
  • Experience with Integration Patterns.
