Position Purpose
The Athletics Compliance Coordinator assists with the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Compliance Office to provide support for the Dartmouth College Athletics Department in all aspects of the comprehensive compliance program for 35 varsity sports, including rules education, monitoring, and enforcement.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Familiarity with college athletics Compliance procedures and policies.
  • Proficiency in database management, spreadsheets, and other computer software.
  • Ability to manage logistical and administrative details of multiple tasks or projects.
  • Ability to plan work, set priorities, and respond to pressures, deadlines, and changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work with confidential information with discretion.

Key Accountabilities

Description
COMPLIANCE MONITORING, AUDITING & EDUCATION
Responsible for comprehensive monitoring and auditing of NCAA and Ivy league rules and regulations outlined below. Including the review of effective and efficient monitoring systems, use of DCARD compliance technology, creation of education documents, and regular meeting with coaches and staff.
  • NCAA Bylaw 11 (Personnel)
    • Monitor and document the Limitations of Coaching and Non-Coaching staff member (Staff designation). Update as necessary when changes happen throughout the year.
  • NCAA Bylaw 12 (Amateurism & Athletic Eligibility)
    • Provide education on compliance regulations for student-athlete employment and establish monitoring systems where appropriate.
    • Review Institutional and Outside Organization Promotional Activities in accordance with NCAA Regulations.
  • NCAA Bylaw 13 (Recruiting)
    • Monthly monitoring of off-campus Contacts & Evaluations, Telephone calls, and Unofficial Visits.
    • Review and Pre-Approve all Official Visit requests in addition to conducting a post-visit reconciliation.
    • Monitor all recruiting activities to be in compliance with appropriate Recruiting Calendars and Basketball Event Certification.
  • NCAA Bylaw 14 (Eligibility)
    • Assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance with assigning and reviewing of annual NCAA/Ivy League student-athlete compliance forms.
    • Assist in tracking seasons of competition utilized and communicating with the Assistant Athletics Director when waivers may be pursued.
    • Monitor student-athlete participation in competition.
  • NCAA Bylaw 16 (Extra Benefits)
    • Monitor the distribution of special achievement and annual participation awards per NCAA guidelines.
    • Monitor the use of Complimentary Tickets for current student-athletes and communicate regularly with the athletics ticket office regarding complimentary tickets.
    • Coordinate, Monitor, and communicate all DCARD needs for Housing & Meals during the Interim periods of the academic year.
    • Monitor all permissible expenses for Practice & Competition, including but not limited to travel parties, meals, entertainment, apparel, equipment, etc.
    • Monitor, Review, and audit all Travel rosters and itineraries, including communication with the Executive Associate Athletics Director for Administration regarding student-athlete missed class time.
  • NCAA Bylaw 17 (Playing & Practice Season) & Applicable Ivy League Regulations
    • Execute all required Sport Season start up information, including the Declaration of playing seasons for each sport and continuous monitoring of Countable Athletic Related Activities (CARA) to ensure compliance with NCAA and Ivy League rules.
    • CARA Monitoring.
    • Through the Sport Season start up process, review and audit the permissibility of all competition activities. Including meeting all applicable NCAA Sport Sponsorship requirements.
    • Attend team practice sessions to observe participants and activities.

Event Management
  • Serve as on-site event manager for numerous varsity home contests, including many during non-traditional business hours such as weeknights and weekends.
  • Greet officials, show to locker room, and ensure that assignments are correct for proper payment.
  • Greet visiting team coach, show team to locker room, and be of any assistance.
  • Ensure proper facility and equipment set-up for events. Coordinate with event workers to ensure that their responsibilities are clear and duties are being performed properly.
  • Assist fans with any issues, concerns, or questions.
  • Handle any emergencies on-site (injury on field, weather issue), assist with crowd control (act as a liaison with Dartmouth Safety and Security and Hanover Police, when applicable) and troubleshoot.
  • Participates in the coordination, organization, and implementation of athletic tournaments as well as Ivy, ECAC and NCAA post-season championships.
