Job Description

Who you are: You are a great communicator and leader, and have been a supervisor in past jobs. You care about people and make sure your staff members are well trained, know all policies and procedures, and work in the safest environment possible. Most of all you are a leader who is dependable, has integrity, and looks for ways to work more efficiently.

Where you'll work: You will work at Green Diamond's Chip Facility dock located on Humboldt Bay in Fairhaven, California. This is a production facility which stores and ships woodchips. The woodchips are delivered from the area sawmills and loaded onto vessels bound for both domestic and overseas markets. Life by the bay is hard on exposed equipment and assets. You will be leading a small team of employees who keep the daily production in check and maintain the equipment on the facility in excellent working order.

What the job is: This position supervises the hourly staff of the facility. It requires 5 years of experience as a supervisor or lead and 5 years experience in shipping and receiving. You will be supervising the weigh station operators, maintenance staff, and equipment operators. In addition, you will interact with vendors, contractors, and others who frequent the facility on a daily basis or when a vessel is in. As a small staff everyone has to work to ensure all tasks get done. This position plays an essential role keeping the Chip Facility in good working order and running efficiently through supervision and helping do the daily work. One important aspect of the job is being able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) to be able to work on the dock at the facility when a vessel is in port.

Work Schedule: For the majority of the year the average work schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. When a vessel arrives at the dock, schedules change, and every individual is expected to be available. You must be able to schedule staff as well as yourself to work on day or night shift when loading the vessel. Vessels can be at the dock for up to 5 days straight during these periods.

Compensation Details: The annual rate for this job ranges between $72,264 and $108,396. The wage is just one part of Green Diamond's total compensation package. Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company financial bonus and a bonus based on your own performance.

In addition, Green Diamond offers a generous benefit package to include medical/vision and dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k) plan with match and profit sharing. Paid time off includes 9 designated and up to 2 personal holidays, 10 vacation days, 10 sick days, 30 days parental leave, 3 days bereavement, an extra 2 days bereavement unpaid, jury duty, 1 volunteer day, and 5 days family care.
