Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Mid-level Test Engineer with an Active Secret Clearance. Work will be 100% onsite in the King George/Dahlgren area supporting our Department of Defense (DoD) customer. No remote work or hybrid schedule.

As part of a highly talented, motivated and high performing team, you will support an exciting program which involves technical and engineering stages of systems development, testing, integration, fielding, quality assurance (QA), certification, and maintenance. Other duties supporting this effort include providing business operational, technical writing, documentation, communications, network engineering, hardware design and integration, information assurance (IA), system interoperability support and system administration. What you will do:

    Test and evaluation activities to cover both hardware and software for new systems, system upgrades, and peripherals as well as system of systems.
  • Provide engineering support required to review, assess and analyze all levels of system documentation to identify and define test requirements. Documentation to be reviewed includes requirements and design specifications, test plans and procedures, test results, logistics training documentation, and change proposals. Perform requirements traceability and change impact assessments.
  • Evaluate test coverage with respect to test type, test validity, test scenarios, test conduct, test results, and problem report content. The goal is to reduce the number of defects or problems reported at integrated combat systems test sites and aboard ships by continually improving software verification level test methods. Make recommendations for improvements in accordance with Government processes.
  • Plan, conduct, participate, and execute test and evaluation activities and data. Provide an assessment of deficiencies uncovered during testing. Deliver recommendations for possible automated testing.
  • You will also conduct, participate, or provide witness in tactical system ship-based and land-based test and evaluation, certification, and training events to be held at Government or Non-Government venues.
  • In cooperation with the Government Test Lead, you will maintain a test activity schedule. This schedule will include all test events by test suite, off-site work or training events, and desktop task that test personnel support.
  • Participate in system requirements familiarity and awareness sessions with system test personnel to ensure new system enhancements and capabilities are clearly understood and adequately tested.
  • Interacting with gov't senior leadership as well as other individuals across organizations.
  • Any other tasks assigned.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • Bachelors' degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline or Three (3) years of experience in the areas of Combat System Testing, coordination, execution, and analysis in a Navy land-based test laboratory or field environment. 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 3 years with no degree
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Knowledge and experience in testing Navy surface combat systems (Preferred)
  • Past experience testing MK41 Vertical Launching System (VLS) (Preferred)
  • Experience performing data analysis
  • Ability to understand and develop test requirements and execute test procedures
  • Be a quick self-starter and have a strong attention to detail in a fast paced environment
  • Effective/strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently and with others in teams, across multiple organizations, to meet established goals within schedule-driven timeline
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Previous experience working with the DoD customer and or Combat System Testing is a huge plus

Target Salary Range
$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
