POSITION SUMMARY
NSLI-Y is part of a U.S. government initiative to foster international cooperation by ensuring that Americans have the linguistic skills and cultural knowledge necessary to effectively communicate. NSLI-Y is a program of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. NSLI-Y provides merit-based scholarships for eligible U.S. high school students to learn less commonly taught languages. Based in Washington, D.C., the Program Coordinator position will primarily support participants and the implementation of the Virtual NSLI-Y program, assist in coordinating NSLI-Y alumni and re-entry activities, and support daily operations of the NSLI-Y administration department. The NSLI-Y Program Coordinator will report to the NSLI-Y Senior Program Officer.

Essential functions are performed in a general office setting or remote work environment with low noise. Job demands may require long periods of sitting, telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other team members and external stakeholders and lifting up to 15 lbs. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION
This position may require occasional work outside of regular business hours for NSLI-Y and Virtual NSLI-Y recruitment events, Virtual NSLI-Y community-building events, or other NSLI-Y events/trainings/participant needs.
The incumbent for this position must comply with American Councils' hybrid work requirements and must report to the Washington, DC office at least two days a week, potentially more if events or other needs require.
