Department: Attorney Career Advancement

Ballard Spahr has a new opportunity available for a Professional Development Data Specialist within our Attorney Career Advancement team. This position focuses on assisting with data management, reporting and providing technical support as needed. This position is hybrid, requiring 3 days a week on site in our Philadelphia office.

Our Specialist will:

  • Support professional development initiatives within the ACA Department by assisting with technology tasks and the administrative responsibilities related to those tasks.

  • Assist with the administration of ACA software solutions and other technical and process related projects as assigned.

  • Manage data entry and organization for attorney professional development and compensation processes.

  • Ensure the integrity of the data collected and resolve issues when necessary.

  • Ensure confidentiality of attorney information.

  • Act as a liaison between the ACA Department, Information Systems (IS), and Human Resources (HR) departments to facilitate communication and collaboration.

While specific duties may vary, the Professional Development Data Specialist will typically provide first level technical support for ACA applications, system security set up and user account management. In addition, the role will assist with coordination of system upgrades and testing for HRIS software.

A high level of collaboration within the Attorney Career Advancement Department, firm administration and attorneys will be required in this position. Further, the Professional Development Data Specialist should have the ability to engage with people at all levels of the firm.

In addition, excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, strong interpersonal and organizational skills with strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently and prioritize to manage multiple projects and the ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships are essential to be successful in this position.

Requirements include 1-2 years of recent relevant work experience in a legal or professional services environment, a Bachelor's degree in Information Services and/or Human Resources Administration with an IS minor. Familiarity with professional development processes, human resources processes and/or HRIS applications in a legal environment is desired. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. A high level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as the ability to adapt to new software programs is required.
