Responsibilities

General Description:

The P&C Analytics Structure within Financial Operations provides direct support to senior leadership, including Financial Services. Specifically, we are looking for an analytics leader to help grow a new team focused on advanced analytics related to Financial Services including new insights and knowledge to support executive leadership and informed data-driven decision-making. The team proactively identifies business questions and provides advanced analytics for Financial Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides effective leadership over State Farm Financial Operations by modeling behaviors that encourage curiosity, collaboration, advance technical understanding, inspire ideas, and drive actions and results
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to develop a deep understanding of business trends, uncover new insights, and solve business problems using analytics and data.
  • Utilizes expertise in leveraging data and analytic tools and techniques to deliver results through analytic insights
  • Prioritizes, automates, and executes on time-saving opportunities to efficiently deliver priority work and reduce lower-value work
  • Creates an environment that supports, fosters and nurtures the continuous learning of advanced analytical techniques, tools, environments, platforms and technologies
  • Represents analytics interests on work efforts, providing integration with other departments regarding analytic issues impacting enterprise
  • Leverages strong business acumen related to both Financial Services and Property & Casualty Insurance business lines to support business partners and help drive insightful analytics
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to Executive Leadership on Financial Services Performance, Operational Health Strategy Development, Business Acumen, interpretation of financial/statistical information and marketplace issues
  • Initiates or responds to requests for special studies, research, projects or committee work at the request of Executive Leadership
  • Promotes the training, personal growth, professional development, succession planning and effectiveness of direct reports within area of responsibility.
  • Provides leadership and support for complex, strategic, and department and companywide related projects, while also seeking ways to find efficiencies in team processes.
  • Administer cost effective management of activities



Qualifications

  • Influences diverse business area initiatives and stakeholders in order to help drive collaboration and identify efficiencies.
  • 3-5 years' experience leading analytics teams
  • Demonstrates broad business acumen to drive connectivity and strategy of impactful projects
  • Leads strategically by making forward-thinking decisions that are grounded in data and focused on driving results
  • Possesses strong organization, collaboration and communication skillsets
  • A variety of related background experiences leading analytics efforts
  • Adaptable to work non-standard hours to meet end customer deadlines

Items of Note

  • May be required to work irregular hours during periods of heavy workload or to meet deadlines
  • May be required to travel, via commercial transportation and/or drive motor vehicles, to various State Farm business locations, seminars, conferences, and/or industry meetings
  • May lead a virtual team and work across multiple geographic areas
  • Expected to remain current on both Enterprise and industry issues
  • Incumbents are expected to continue involvement in company sponsored education and training courses for further development
