About The Position

The Clinical Skills Operations Manager (CS-Ops) will be responsible for managing the overall operation of the clinical skills curriculum by coordinating all clinical skills event logistics, including, but not limited, the training sessions and events involving standardized patients (SPs). This candidate will assist the Director of Clinical Skills in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all clinical skills related learning sessions and assessments. The CS-Ops Manager will be expected to work with the Standardized Patient Program Manager, clinical skills educators, clinical skills preceptors, simulation personnel, and faculty members from all the ARCHES's disciplines using SPs.

Major Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversees the logistical and operational needs of all clinical skills related events.
  • Assists the Director of Clinical Skills in the development, design, and implementation of the clinical skills curriculum and all events.
  • Assists in the implementation of clinical skills formative and summative assessments, including, but not limited to, the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, retention, and supervision of Clinical Skills staff.
  • Screens, selects, and assists in the training of SPs in collaboration with the Standardized Patient Manager.
  • Provides support and access to equipment and instructional technology, training tools and protocols, and AV resources to all clinical skills preceptors and faculty members from all the ARCHES's disciplines using SPs in any events.
  • Manages the use of audio-visual-recording-assessment software including, event case templates, assessments, and evaluation reports, faculty and student schedules, and announcements.
  • Collaborates with the facilities staff, the simulation and IT teams to assure functionality and maintenance of hardware and software for every clinical skills event.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of education program quality improvement efforts.
  • Maintains and updates clinical skills resources in the learning management systems and effectively communicates and coordinates with other departments.
  • Assist in the development of the clinical skills budget. Monitors the procurement and expenditures.
  • Maintains and manages supplies, materials, or items needed for the clinical skills events and coordinates with other departments, especially with the simulation team.
  • Engages in professional development. Attends meetings related to clinical skills education.
  • Builds strategic alliances and partnerships within the community.
  • Collaborates with the simulation team and may be asked to participate in simulation events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4 years' experience within a healthcare related work environment, graduate level education, or healthcare simulation center.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience with clinical skills/simulation education.
  • Experience with AV recording software or similar clinical skills software applications.
  • Experience with production events spanning the entire operations.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

  • Evidence of training and/or experience in accreditation and certification of clinical skills centers.
  • Experience using medical simulation software management platforms and AV-recording systems.
  • Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) certified.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of clinical skills education.
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships within a diverse academic environment by adapting to new situations and others' ideas.
  • Skill in management, communication, and facilitation of complex events involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.
  • Supervise and provide ongoing staff development.
  • IT / AV-recording technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to train a range and variety of individuals and align training material accordingly.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.

  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/orvariable work hours.
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel may be required to attend conferences as needed or requested.
  • This role is an on-campus, in-person, student-facing position.
