Savannah River Mill is looking for their next Performance Coach - Pulp team member! The performance coach role is a key leadership role that will provide direction to crews operating the pulp mill area. Through the role's leadership, clear expectations will be set, and crews and individual team members will be held accountable for results in operational areas including Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Compliance, Reliability, Quality, Production and Cost. This is an integral part of our bet to meet the challenge of improving at a faster rate than our competition. We will do this through flawless execution of our reliability strategies and development of our employee's knowledge, skills, and capabilities. The successful candidate will exemplify PBM and will advance our culture by ensuring their team is capable and aligned and that all employees behave in a manner consistent with our PBM Guiding Principles.


Our Team

This role will report to the Pulp Performance and Capability Leader respectively and work with the other performance coaches as a cohesive leadership team. This is a 12-hour rotating shift with holidays and weekends on one of the four crews.


What You Will Do

  • Lead team members toward excellence in Environmental, Health, and Safety and compliance by identifying and resolving hazards with critical and high risks
  • Lead and mentor team members to apply PBM in ways that are consistent with our Guiding Principles
  • Lead, mentor, coach and hold direct reports accountable for paper machine results that are impacted by people performance and capability
  • Align to asset reliability and operational strategies of the pulp department, by collaborating with Product System Leader, Area Leads, Manufacturing Engineers, Training and Development Leader, and other resources to build capabilities of technicians to execute these strategies
  • Verify technician execution of all asset strategies and processes
  • Execute all phases of performance management with all team members including annual performance review, quarterly performance conversations with individual development plans and RRE's that are aligned with the mill and paper machine goals
  • Utilize the PSQ process consistent with the mill standards
  • Identify and use measures (leading and lagging) that indicate how well the operating technicians are performing
  • 75-85% of time on the floor working with technicians, 15-25% of time of administrative work
  • Computer skills: Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience supervising +10 employees
  • Experience using a computer, tablet, or smart device
  • Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, agricultural, or military environment OR completion of post-high school education in a manufacturing/industrial-centered program
  • A high school diploma or GED


What Will Put You Ahead

  • A minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Experience working in a paper/pulp manufacturing environment
