Kitchak Lounge Host (Part-Time)

Compensation: $15.62 per hour

THE POSITION
Kitchak Lounge Hosts provide excellent customer service to our patrons in the Kitchak Lounge, the Guthrie Theater's donor lounge reserved for patrons who donate $2,500 or more annually. The Lounge is open one hour prior to all evening performances and during intermission for all performances, including weekend matinees. Hosts run the Lounge with assistance from volunteers by welcoming guests, tracking attendance, assisting with Lounge traffic, serving food and beverages, and maintaining the quality of the environment. This position is part-time, non-exempt and non-benefits eligible. Compensation for this position is $16.52 per hour. The schedule will require 4 shifts minimum per week, averaging 3.5 hours per shift. Hours are reflective of the dynamic schedule of the theater and available shift times will align with the Guthrie's performance calendar, Tuesday-Sunday evenings plus weekend afternoon matinees.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons during their time in the Kitchak Lounge.
- Present a polite and professional demeanor when interacting with patrons and coworkers.
- Learn and share information with patrons about Guthrie shows, programs, and other offerings.
- Follow Guthrie policies and emergency procedures, directing patrons in the event of an emergency.
- Assist patrons with accessibility needs as required.
- Problem solve patron issues as they arise, escalating as needed to supervisor.
- Foster a work environment incorporating the Guthrie values of Artistic Excellence; Community; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility, and Fiscal Responsibility.
2. Kitchak Lounge Hosting
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends and work 2-3 shifts per week.
- Previous experience in customer service preferred, with an interest or prior experience in theater desirable.
- Previous alcohol/dram shop training preferred.
- Basic technological skills required. Proficient with Excel and Microsoft SharePoint applications.
- Strong communication and listening skills to easily communicate with patrons and coworkers.
- Can consistently present a polite and professional demeanor when interacting with patrons.
- Ability to remain calm in the event of an emergency.
- Flexible and willing to perform different tasks as needed.
