Maintenance Technician
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician for a leading food manufacturer and distributor to work in the Zeeland, MI location. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The Maintenance Mechanic position has responsibilities to maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of electromechanical equipment in a food processing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES for the Maintenance Technician Generalist:
  • Must perform troubleshooting and repair, and provide technical support for all phases of the operation
  • Must be able to understand technical and training manuals.
  • Handle and distribute cleaning chemicals and record data
  • Perform any other work as assigned by supervisor
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the department
  • Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF Requirements
  • Must perform all positions of rotation, if applicable.
  • Requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters, such as basic electrical, electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, fabrication and manufacturing processes
  • Abilities include standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, and reaching are required in all areas and must be able to climb up and down stairs and ladders
  • Must be able to push/pull/lift 75 pounds
  • Previous experience, special training, and formal education in a mechanical capacity is preferred for this outlined position.
  • The position requires strong communication skills. Also, must be able to understand technical and training manuals.
Must Have Skills Maintenance Technician
  • Education and Experience: At least 1 year of industrial maintenance experience OR 1 year of industrial maintenance experience education (e.g., possess industrial maintenance diploma or currently enrolled in technical school) in lieu of experience.
  • Applicants will be considered for Associate Maintenance Technicians, General Maintenance Technicians, and Sr Maintenance Technicians level openings.
  • Leveling is determined during the interview process based on skillset, knowledge, and experience.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills necessary for logging information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation. Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication and basic math skills required.
