Description

Summary:

The Slide/Block Laboratory Aide position provides support to client services, Pathology Assistants, and
the pathologist staff. The Slide/Block Lab Aide is responsible for following all standards, policies, and
procedures of Inform Diagnostics.

Responsibilities:

* Assures that all safety, quality control measures, and policies and procedures are followed.
* Files blocks and slides in numerical order.
* Adheres to attendance and punctuality standards.
* Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

*High School diploma or equivalent required.
*Bachelor of Science in biology or related field preferred.
*Prior experience in the medical field preferred.
*Ability to multi-task while working in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline driven environment.
*Ability to file items in numerical order.
*Ability to send out specimens to various reference testing laboratories.
*Ability to work with client services to resolve patient and client issues.
*Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
*Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, general working knowledge of Internet for business use, and skilled in operating office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
*Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required.

Lab Specific Qualifications:
*Visual acuity (including color discrimination) and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail.
*Ability to tolerate extensive periods seated and/or standing.
*Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.
*Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
*May have exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous material/chemicals including formalin in the lab environment
