This position provides for work-life balance with typically a 40-hour work week that includes flexible work arrangements. This position is open to a hybrid work arrangement for workers in the Austin area.

Payroll Services at The University of Texas at Austin is responsible for producing and distributing payroll for approximately 29,000 employees. Purpose

Serve as a member of the Finance Team in Payroll Services. This position involves the analysis, recording, examination, maintenance, and reporting of payroll financial data for the university.

Responsibilities
  • Run, review, and adjust cost transfers from the cost transfer integration.
  • Work with Departments, Accounting and Financial Management, and the Budget Office to ensure payroll results and cost transfers are appropriately categorized and reported on each payroll cycle. Assist departments with account reconciliations and questions about costing.
  • Serve as Settlement Specialist to include:
    • Settle Off-Cycle payrolls and serve as back-up for On-Cycles
    • Approve check print in box tasks
    • Launch check print integrations.
    • Verify positive pay files are created and match settlement totals.
  • Review costing for manually input payments on semi-monthly, monthly, and off cycle payrolls.
  • Enter manual payments to record cost transfers, repayments, and other payroll record adjustments as needed.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting processes, making use of current technology to ensure appropriate internal controls.
  • Serve as back up for Team duties and assist as needed with account reconciliations and audit request research.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline. Highly proficient in use of Excel, automated financial systems and financial reporting systems, including spreadsheets and databases. Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience allowed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with DEFINE and/or Workday. Experience in payroll and/or financial reporting and analysis. Excellent interpersonal skills including communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of customer service. Demonstrated ability to perform multiple duties and meet deadlines. Experience working in a university environment. One to three years' experience in governmental accounting.

Salary Range

$48,000
