Job Description

The Associate Product Development Engineers are responsible for assisting with the initial design of company products and maintenance of associated records. Performance in execution of these activities directly influences supplier and customer (including regulatory agency) perceptions of BioHorizons meeting expectations and requirements. The Associate Product Development Engineer has authority to work on new designs by following proper approval processes

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with engineering design of new products. This involves decisions:
    1. Experience with Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GDT) requirements
    2. Material composition requirements
    3. General design dimensioning requirements for interface with other products, product function, ease of manufacture and aesthetics
    4. Surface finish requirements
  • Maintenance of associated Design Records, such as:
    Document Change Request System:
    a) Organizing, tracking, and processing of Document Change Requests.
    b) Distributing new release drawings for proper approvals and revising master drawing files.
    2. Document Drawing Files
    a) Generate new drawing/part numbers for new products.
  • Special assignments as directed by VP, Research and Development.
  • Correct execution of summarized activities is required, especially with respect to timely execution in compliance with company and regulatory policy
  • Perform other duties as directed

Qualifications:

  • Experience with computer network systems, MSWindows, standard MSWindows applications (Word, Excel, Access) and SolidWorks CAD software package, 3-D modeling required.
  • One year work experience in medical device field required (dental or orthopaedics preferred); product design responsibility preferred.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires vaccination against Hepatitis B or signed declination form.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Dental Degree required; Mechanical Engineering, BioMedical Engineering preferred.
