Job purpose

The FSQA Specialist is responsible for managing trustworthy, consistent relationships between company customers and the Corporate Quality Department. Working closely with all Sales and Commercialization personnel in Canada and USA, Food Service, Industrial, and Retail. Reviewing, analyzing, responding and vetting ongoing customer requests related to Quality. Ensuring accurate, current details are being shared while consistently protecting the confidentiality of the company. Collaborating with company employees to ensure information is provided correctly in a timely manner. Departments include; all areas of Corporate Quality, Sales, Legal, Marketing, Sustainability, Transportation and Warehouse, EHS, Finance, Human Resources, and more. Managing customer portals, and working directly with customer contacts when needed. This role also assists with new product or new customer RFI, RFP projects.

The FSQA Specialist is responsible for the execution, maintenance, development, and improvement of the Corporate Quality Food Safety Training Program. This pertains to plant related and corporate level training topics all related to Quality. They are a key contact for the company training portal, and work in unison with Plant Quality Managers, EHS Managers, and various other personnel at each facility in Canada and USA.

When required this role will support the Corporate Quality and Plant Quality team in the preparation for third party GFSI and customer audits. Most tasks related to training requirements and procuring accurate data points.

The FSQA Specialist works closely with various Department Managers on program improvements related to the Quality Teams. Programs leading to efficient record keeping, data management, document reviews and storage, and incorporating more technology in day to day processes.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Training Program Management: Oversee the development and execution of the Corporate Quality Food Safety Training Program.
  • Training Portal Coordination: Act as a primary contact for the company training portal, facilitating and updating content as required
  • Manage Relationships: Cultivate and maintain trustworthy relationships with customers and coordinate closely with the Corporate Quality Department.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work in tandem with Sales, Legal, Marketing, Sustainability, Transportation and Warehouse, EHS, Finance, and Human Resources to ensure effective communication.
  • Customer Requests: Analyze and respond to customer inquiries related to quality, ensuring prompt and accurate feedback.
  • Confidentiality Oversight: Protect the confidentiality of sensitive company information while sharing necessary details with relevant stakeholders.
  • Audit Preparation Support: Assist in preparing for third-party GFSI and customer audits, focusing on training requirements and data accuracy.
  • Quality Improvement Initiatives: Collaborate with department managers to enhance quality programs, including record-keeping, data management, and technology integration.
  • Customer Portal Management: Oversee customer portals, ensuring they are updated and managed effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree (Food Science or technical degree preferred but not required)
  • 2-4 years of experience working in a quality/food safety role within food industry
  • HACCP/GFSI/PCQI/Auditing experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills as this position is the face of High Liner Foods to our supplier partners
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good organizational and record keeping skills
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills, results driven
