Position Summary

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science invites applications for a Licensed Clinician at the Student Counseling Service (SCS) within our Student Health and Wellness Center. Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science is an all-graduate level health care and scientific research University. The Student Health and Wellness Center provides medical and counseling services for the students of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

Under the direction of the SCS Director of Student Counseling Services, licensed clinicians are responsible for providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy for RFUMS-enrolled students. Service provision includes face-to-face and tele-psychological psychotherapeutic services to students regarding problems relating to stress, developmental issues, career, academics, interpersonal concerns, and other mental health issues. The successful candidate will engage in offering crisis services and will participate in after-hours crisis coverage, and conduct a variety of educational workshops and outreach offerings for students, faculty, and staff. The successful applicant will offer consultation to students, faculty, staff, and family members. There is an opportunity to participate in professional development and continuing education activities.

Who we are

The Student Wellness Center at Rosalind Franklin University focuses on holistic, preventative interventions providing students a foundation for well-being via self-care and healthy life choices. As a part of the Division of Student Success and Wellness, the center leads proactive wellness initiatives and clinical services for University students. Staff members include both primary care and behavioral health clinicians. The center emphasizes intervention strategies that lead to options for overall better mental and physical health, stress reduction, and prevention of disease while meeting the mental and physical healthcare needs of a majority of RFU students.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, couples, and group psychotherapy following federal, state, professional, and institutional regulations.
  • Follows established policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date record keeping in an ethical manner and documents activity through electronic health records.
  • Coordinate, plan, and present workshops and outreach; may develop and conduct research; train other staff; maintain expertise in areas related to college student mental health.
  • Serves as a consultant to the RFUMS regarding college students mental health issues and primary advisor for issues and concerns; serves as a liaison and partner student groups focused on the needs of their students; serves as a consultant to university personnel about individual clinical cases as well as planning and implementing preventive psychoeducational programs for student development; maintains liaisons with other campus units; participates in agency planning and management.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must achieve background check clearance.
  • Must have proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a university-approved exemption.

Required Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in Counselor Education, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Licensure in the State of Illinois in professional discipline upon hire.
  • Experience providing psychotherapy and outreach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to multiculturalism and diversity.
  • Experience in a university or college setting is highly preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with necessary internal and external agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
  • Knowledge of psychological, educational, and developmental needs of educationally, socially, or psychologically impaired individuals.
  • Knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques, differential diagnosis, and psychometric instruments.
  • Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available on-campus and in the community to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to organize and maintain a caseload as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field.
  • Considerable clinical casework experience in therapy.
  • Supervised internship or work equivalent experience in a university counseling center or related professional setting.
