Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Actuarial Associate III on the RD Actuarial Financial Reporting team!

About the role

We are seeking an actuary to support our special project function. This position will play a key role in our annual financial plan and analysis FP&A, LDTI implementation, assumption update, new product and other process enhancement project as needed.

What you will do

  • Update and maintain Plan models. Consolidate new business and inforce forecast and ensure plan results are reasonable and delivered in a timely manner. Support senior actuaries in carrying out Plan analysis.
  • Support LDTI implementation by running model validations, testing new valuation process and collaborating with accounting team in producing ledger booking and disclosure report
  • Partner with Experience study team in annual assumption update. Prepare thorough reports for impact analysis and share insights with external teams
  • Implement new product features and upgrades to existing model coding.
  • Assist in actuarial process modernization by identifying opportunities for improvements/automations and provide consultation and support for carrying out the implementation

Compensation

Salary Range: $91,200 - $151,900 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with strong quantitative background including college level mathematics.
  • 3 to 5 years of insurance related actuarial experience
  • 5 to 7 actuarial exams. Close to ASA designation
  • Highly skilled in the use of spreadsheets
  • Good understanding of insurance GAAP and Statutory accounting concepts and of company financials (income statements, balance sheets, investment portfolio, and policyholder reserves).
  • Experienced with automation and process improvement
  • Experience with PolySystems and/or MG-ALFA is preferred
  • Experience in SQL or Python is preferred
  • Good communication skill and comfortable working in a team environment
